The use of plastics and polymers to provide packaging for safer foods, lighter and more durable appliances, and an increased level of consumer convenience have created a global industry. Yet the majority of these materials are based upon the extraction and processing of nonrenewable fossil carbon, typically oil and gas that contributes to global climate change.
Consumers are increasingly concerned with the health of environment, climate change and the growing burden on waste disposal systems around the world. This is generating demand for brand owners, retailers and manufacturers to provide packaging and consumer products that are sourced responsibly, designed to be effective and safe, and which reduce environmental impact.
