resin to Labcon North America, a leading manufacturer of laboratory supplies, for the

Metabolix Announces that Mirel™ Bioplastics is Selected by Heritage Plastics for New BioTuf™ Compostable Film

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., May 15, 2008 — Metabolix Inc. (NASDAQ: MBLX) today announced that Telles™, its joint venture with Archer Daniels Midland Company that produces Mirel™ bioplastics, has entered an agreement to supply Mirel resin to Heritage Plastics Inc. for the production of BioTuf™ compostable film.  Heritage Bag Company, the largest U.S. manufacturer of compostable trash bags, can liners and kitchen compost bags, is working in conjunction with Heritage Plastics to develop a new line of BioTuf Compostable Bags using Mirel.

Metabolix Announces National Release of Gift Card by Target using Mirel
Biobased Plastics

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., December 3, 2007 — Metabolix, Inc. (NASDAQ: MBLX), a bioscience company focused on developing clean, sustainable solutions for plastics, fuels, and chemicals, announced today that Target (NYSE: TGT) has introduced in all 1,600 stores gift cards made using Mirel™ biobased plastic in time for the holiday shopping season. In July, Target test marketed gift cards made using Mirel in 129 of its stores.

Mirel opens Lowell, MA headquarters

Mirel is marketed and sold through Telles™, a 50/50 joint venture between Metabolix and Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM). ADM has begun construction of the world’s first Mirel biobased plastics resins plant in Clinton, Iowa. This new facility will produce 110 million pounds of Mirel per year with start up scheduled for late 2008. The new Telles business office is located at the Wannalancit Mill complex near the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus.

Metabolix Announces Results of Life Cycle Assessment for Mirel™ Bioplastics
— Achieves Major Reduction in Greenhouse Gas and Fossil Fuel Relative to
Conventional Plastics

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct 12, 2007 — Metabolix Inc. (NASDAQ: MBLX) today announced that Telles™, its joint venture with Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM), has released the findings of an independent life cycle assessment (LCA) for Mirel™ bioplastic resin. The LCA study, conducted by Dr. Bruce Dale, professor of Chemical Engineering at Michigan State University, determined that production of Mirel reduces the use of nonrenewable energy by more than 95% and provides a 200% reduction in greenhouse gases (GHG) compared to production of conventional petroleum-based plastics.
